The Real Estate Education Center offers various types of courses. Browse the
real estate courses below and find the school nearest you.
The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission regulations require that an applicant
successfully complete a course in Real Estate Practice and Real Estate
Fundamentals before they can apply to take the State Real Estate Exam. The Real
Estate Commission requires a student attend at least 80% of the course and
receive a passing grade to receive credit for the course. The 2 courses may be
taken in any order.
Please note: The SAME TEXTBOOK is used for both the
Fundamentals and Practice courses. If you register for both courses, you can
deselect a checkbox for one of the courses. This will bring the total cost of
both 30-hour courses plus the textbook to $365.

The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission regulations require that an
applicant for a Broker license must accumulate 16 educational credits before
being able to take the Broker’s exam. 2 of the required 16 credits must be in a
commission approved Real Estate Brokerage & Management course and 2 of the
required 16 credits must be in a commission approved Real Estate Law course.

The Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission regulations require that any
real estate licensee must complete 14 hours of continuing education every 2
years in order to renew their real estate license. The 14 hours may be in any
commission approved course topic. If you take a 2 or 3 credit Broker’s course,
you have fulfilled your continuing education requirement for that biennium.

On-line Continuing Education Classes:

ON-LINE CLASS REGISTRATION IS UNAVAILABLE AFTER 05/15/08
You are required as a licensed Real Estate agent in the state of Pennsylvania
to complete 14 hours of continuing education classes before the renewal date of
May 31st of every even numbered year. You may select as many classes as you
would like to complete on line for this requirement. If you decide to take all
of your continuing education classes on-line on our website, you must keep in
mind that you need to complete at least 14 hours. In most cases, you will
complete over the 14-hour requirement. You cannot just take a 12-hour on-line
class and think you are done. You will be 2 hours short of the requirement.
After you complete your classes, please contact the school at (866) 244-6866 to
let us know you are finished. We will send all completed classes electronically
to the state to let them know that you have met your continuing education
requirements for the current renewal period. When you receive your license
renewal form from the Real Estate Commission, you just need to go on-line and
renew with a credit card. The state will match your Real Estate license number
with the continuing education credits they have received electronically and
send you your renewed license.
**6 hour classes need to be taken as 6 hours and 12 hour classes
need to be taken as 12 hours. You cannot complete these classes in less time
and expect to be finished. The state audits all these records and you must
complete the required time limits or you will not be given credit for
completing the class.**
Real Estate Finance Today - 6 hours
Building on strong finance principles this introduces residential real
estate financing basics and mortgage lending trends. It also discusses new
affordable loan products, government influences on real estate finance, and
special financing alternatives, including seller financing and loans for
self-employed borrowers, as well as annual updates for the latest loan limits.

Property Management & Managing Risk
– 6 hours
This practical approach to property management explores the major
functions of practitioners. It also helps real estate professionals juggle
property management and sales with managing liability in today’s litigious
society. Areas covered will include: manager and owner relationship leases and
tenant issues, managing residential properties and managing emergency and
tenant safety issues.

Investment Property Practice &
Management – 12 hours
This course explores the nature of commercial real estate,
classifications of real property, lease types, market value and rate of return
and analysis. Areas covered will include: professional property management,
owner-manager relationship, management plan, leases and tenant issues, managing
residential properties and managing tenant safety issues.

Home Inspection & Environmental
Basics – 12 hours
This course will cover environmental concerns and how to assist
clients, identifying lead, radon and asbestos and health hazards, summarize
what buyers and sellers should look for before moving in, identify possible
sources and symptoms of biological pollutants that buyers or tenants should
inspect prior to purchasing or leasing and discuss the importance of well water
testing before any real estate transfer.

On-Line Pre-licensing Classes

There are (2) 30-hour on-line pre-licensing classes that you need to
take, Real Estate Fundamentals and Real Estate Practice. Once you have
completed all the sections in each class, please contact the school at (866)
244-6866 to schedule your final exam for both of the 30-hour classes. This exam
is a manual exam to be taken on-site at one of our school locations and
monitored by a proctor for the school.
Once you take the final exams and pass them, you will be given
Transcripts showing completion of the class requirements. We will give you the
information on how to sign up with the state to take the state and national
exam. Once you have completed the state and national exam, you will be eligible
to get your Real Estate license and work for a broker in the state of
Pennsylvania.
Real Estate
Fundamentals
To provide the student with a basic foundation for additional study
and to support the practice of real estate in Pennsylvania. The course is
designed to acquaint the student with the language, principles and laws that
govern the business of real estate. Emphasis is on the underlying concepts of
Land, Property, Rights in Realty and the means, methods and laws that govern
the conveyance of these rights.

Real Estate Practice
To provide the student with an introduction to all facets of the real
estate business including a survey a specialization. Emphasis is on the role of
a real estate agent in the field of residential brokerage. This course is
designed to acquaint the student in the basic techniques, procedures,
regulations and ethics involved in a real estate transaction, along with a
working knowledge of the forms and documents used including the related
mathematics.
